Get the install right the first time
Every AVS PCU, LED tube and module is engineered in Malaysia for the demands of an outdoor forecourt — high ambient heat, vibration, rain and round-the-clock duty. These guides cover the decisions that matter most on site, from digit sizing to IP sealing, cabling, brightness calibration and POS linking. On-site fitting itself is carried out by the AVS installation team or a certified contractor, drawing on over 9 years of on-site experience at Petronas and BHP stations — these guides are for planning the install, not for a DIY fit.
Choosing PCU digit size
Match digit height to viewing distance. AVS PCUs run from 120 mm up to 600 mm — larger digits read clearly across wide carriageways and at speed, while smaller sizes suit tight infill sites and secondary poles.
Mounting & IP sealing on monoliths
Specify IP54 for sheltered faces or IP67 for fully exposed monoliths and pylons, and always terminate with IP68 cabling connectors. UV-resistant black silicone plotting keeps the seal intact through Malaysian sun and monsoon.
Cabling & controller wiring
One PCU Controller drives up to 8 PCUs (configurable up to 4 double-sided). Plan a 230 VAC supply rated for the controller's ≤500 W draw, and keep runs tidy with IP68 connectors at every junction.
Cut-to-fit LED tubes
ATHH Green Tube cuts to length at 30 mm intervals; ColorLine cuts at 22 mm / 44 mm intervals. Plan runs to the nearest cut point, then close each section with the supplied IP65 quick-connect connectors and clips.
Setting auto-brightness
The built-in photocell reads 64 brightness levels, and the PCU Controller applies up to 16 of them so digits stay legible at noon and never glare after dark. Position the sensor with a clear sky view and verify the response through a full day-to-night cycle.
Linking to POS / IFSF
Connect PCUs to your forecourt controller or POS over serial RS232–RS485 using the IFSF protocol, so pole and pump prices update together — automatically, from the shop. See integration options
Built to survive the forecourt
PCU faces use aluminium-extrusion or HDPE casing with UV-resistant black silicone plotting, Cree/Osram LEDs (max two in series) and a 120° viewing angle for clear reads across the apron.
- Confirm digit size against your longest sightline before ordering.
- Choose IP54 or IP67 to match how exposed each face is.
- Seal every cable entry with IP68 connectors.
- Allow a dedicated 230 VAC circuit for each PCU Controller.
- Commission auto-brightness over a full day/night cycle.
Cutting and connecting LED tubes
Modular AVS tubes are supplied with connectors, clips and cut-to-length sections so a run can be tailored to any fascia or canopy edge on site.
