What digit sizes and colours are available on the Price Change Unit (PCU)?
AVS PCUs are built in digit heights from 120 mm up to 600 mm, so you can match anything from a compact island pylon to a tall roadside monolith. Colours include Red, Green, White and Dual-Colour, and you can choose Multi-Segment or 7-Segment fonts. Dual-colour units can even auto-switch by time of day — for example red digits by day and white by night, as deployed at Vivo stations in Indonesia. All units offer a 120° viewing angle using Cree and Osram SMD/DIP LEDs.
What IP (ingress protection) rating do AVS products carry?
Price Change Units are supplied in IP54 or IP67 depending on the exposure of the installation, and all cabling uses IP68-rated connectors so the weakest point — the joints — stays sealed against rain and dust. Modular PCU panels are IP67. Our LED tubes are IP65: the ATHH Green Tube uses IP65 quick-connects, and the ColorLine Tube is sealed under a UV-resistant PMMA diffuser. Choosing the right rating for your forecourt is part of every quote we prepare.
How are prices updated on the displays?
AVS gives you three control paths. The simplest is the 5-button remote control (433 MHz, range up to 100 m) for quick on-site changes. For console-style control there is the Price Sign Terminal — a 16-key unit with an LCD. And for fully automated forecourts, POS / IFSF integration links the PCUs to your forecourt controller over serial RS232–RS485, so pump prices and pole prices update together from inside the shop. How many PCUs can one controller drive?
A single PCU Controller drives up to 8 PCUs, or up to 4 in a double-sided configuration for monoliths that face traffic in two directions. The controller is IP54, runs on 230 VAC at under 500 W, and supports up to 16 auto-brightness levels across all the displays it manages — keeping a multi-grade price board consistent and legible day and night.
How do the displays stay readable in direct sunlight?
Readability comes from two things: premium LEDs and active brightness control. AVS uses Cree and Osram LEDs (we work only with Cree and Osram) for high luminous output, and every PCU carries a 64-level photocell that automatically adjusts brightness across the day. Digits stay punchy under harsh midday sun and dim down at night so they are never glaring — without anyone touching a setting.
What is the operating temperature range?
AVS PCUs are rated from −30 °C to +60 °C, comfortably covering Malaysian forecourt heat as well as export markets with colder climates. Reliability across that range is verified in production: every batch goes through a 48-hour burn-in test, a cold-chamber (freezer) dry-joint test, and a vibration test, with conformal-coated PCBs to resist humidity and corrosion.
What is the lifespan of the LED tubes?
It depends on the tube. The ATHH Green Tube — a high-brightness forecourt and signage tube (IP65, 48 V DC, 8.4 W/m) — is rated for at least 80,000 hours of service. The ColorLine Tube, used for decorative identity lighting on building edges and fascia (IP65, 24 V DC, 4.8 W/m), is rated for at least 50,000 hours. Are AVS products customisable for our project?
Yes — AVS is a manufacturer, not a reseller, so products are configured per project. You can specify digit size (120–600 mm), colour (Red / Green / White / Dual-Colour), font (Multi-Segment or 7-Segment), casing (aluminium-extrusion or CNC-cut UV-resistant HDPE), IP rating and control method. We have produced custom outdoor signage too — alpha-numeric Touch 'n Go toll signs, highway variable message signs and indoor video walls — so non-standard layouts are well within scope.
What certifications do AVS products hold?
AVS products are IFSF certified for the forecourt price-pole protocol (certificate reference available on request), plus CE / EMC (EN 55032, 55024, 61000), FCC Part 15 and RoHS (IEC 62321). The wireless remote additionally carries radio and electrical-safety certification (reference available on request). Full documentation lives on our Certifications page.
Do you ship and install outside Malaysia?
Yes. While AVS is a Malaysian manufacturer, our displays are deployed across the region — including dual-colour PCUs at Vivo stations in Indonesia that auto-switch from red by day to white by night. We work with petrol-station brands such as Petronas, Shell, Petron, Vivo, BHP, Aramco and Uni-Oil. Is there a minimum order quantity?
No. One unit is an order. If you need a single Price Change Unit for one station — or one replacement digit module for a sign that is already up — we will build it. There is no minimum quantity and no surcharge for taking a small job, and a one-off is still customised to your monolith, digit height and colour rather than pulled from a standard-size shelf.
That is a deliberate difference from buying off a container-load supplier, where a single station rarely clears the minimum. It matters most in two situations: you are testing us on one site before committing a network, or one sign has failed and you need it matched to the others. Either way, request a quote for the one unit.
What is the lead time, and how do we place an order?
AVS works on a quote basis — there is no public pricing, because every display is configured to the site. The fastest route is to request a quote with your digit size, colours, quantity and control preference; for a forecourt rollout, our engineers will confirm specifications, lead time and IP rating for your conditions. What warranty and after-sales support do you provide?
AVS displays carry a manufacturer warranty of 3 years standard, extendable to 5. Where a build lands in that range depends on the market, the configuration and the service arrangement, and it is confirmed in writing on your quotation — so ask for it as part of the quote rather than assuming a number.
The warranty sits on top of how the units are built: 48-hour burn-in, cold-chamber dry-joint and vibration tests and conformal-coated PCBs on every board, so spares and replacements are matched to your exact configuration years later.
